Give Those Microscopic Hitchhikers The Brush-Off
Tuesday 25 May 2010 @ 1:57 pm

You might think your car or truck is clean. However, most drivers are carrying around a dirty little secret and don’t even know it. That’s why keeping the interior of your vehicle clean is important, especially for people with allergies.

“Keeping your vehicle interior clear of dust, liquids and other particles is one of the most overlooked areas of vehicle maintenance,” said Peter Lord, executive director, GM Service Operations. “Neglecting interior cleanliness can lead to health and sanitary concerns.”

Cleanliness in our kitchens, hotel rooms and restaurants has been a hot topic, but many people forget to take the simple steps needed to keep the interiors of their vehicle clean. This is particularly important given the amount of time most people spend in their vehicles. The average American generally spends up to 2.5 hours per day driving, according to a Yankelovich Monitor Study. That’s almost 38 days out of the year.

Allergens like pollen, as well as bacteria, are just some of the substances that invade our vehicles. Traveling with a pet can add hair and dander to the mix. In addition, residues from road dust, soot, pesticides, and other chemicals collect in car and truck interiors, entering through ventilation ducts or open windows and doors.

Here are a few tips to help eliminate these “invaders”:

• Use disinfectant to wipe down the steering wheel, instrument panel, door handles and other frequently used areas regularly. Remember to clean the interior of the vehicle each time you wash the outside.

• Keep interior surfaces clean by vacuuming seats, carpet and floor mats regularly.

• Replace your vehicle’s cabin air filter, if equipped, when recommended by the owner’s manual. If you drive in high-traffic or dusty areas, consider replacing the filter more often. The GM Goodwrench Cabin Air Filter blocks most allergens that enter a vehicle’s ventilation system.

• You may also ask your technician to clean and disinfect the air-conditioning system with a Cooling-Coil Coating. This product has an odor eliminator and inhibits the growth of odor-causing microorganisms.

But cleaning is about more than keeping the interior clean. Service items such as air filters, oil changes, fluids, brakes, windshield wipers and your air conditioner are also worth inspecting andor replacing.

For extra confidence on the road, motorists can bring their vehicles to a GM dealership for a multipoint vehicle inspection. These inspections help identify service items that can help vehicles run better, last longer and retain their value.

The technicians are ASE-certified and nearly 7,000 dealerships nationwide offer the service.

Getting You Started With Gas Powered RC Car Or Truck
Tuesday 18 May 2010 @ 1:57 pm

Are you new to the RC racing world? Read this article to get yourself started in this fast paced hobby.

There are many ways on how to start with gas-powered RC car or truck. There are many realistic features offered by these remote-controlled cars and trucks. They come in a variety of styles and types in the industry. In choosing one, there are many considerations you should take before eventually owning one.

Radio-controlled cars and trucks lack the power and running time. But if you want to consider, you can convert them into gas powered RC cars, with the use of nitromethane-based fuel. This fuel provides RC cars a level or realism or performance, which are absent on other battery-powered vehicles. Aside from this, they are also highly customizable making it possible for you to integrate RC car accessories and personalize them. There are options of engines and transmitters available to allow you to choose one depending on how youd want the RC car works.

To help you begin in finding the right gas-powered RC car, the following are the factors you should consider:

1.Engines. The most important aspect in a gas RC car, you can choose from the variety of engine models available to choose from. Generally, most RC cars use a specific type, which is commonly called as “glow” engine. It is a 2-cycle combustion engine, which creates power to the RC car preparing it for realism that also produces exhaust in the process. In replacement of spark plugs utilized by automotive engines, a “glow plug” is used for this engine. It is being heated in turn by a “glow starter.” The heat will be held by the “glow plug” to which this is now used to fire engine strokes for rest of the running power.

2.Fuel. Just like the actual gasoline used in automobiles, the nitromethane-based gas fuel the RC cars. The fuel mixture is formulated with special lubricants so that it protects the engine from the excessive heat produced by the combustion process. The lubricants are the same with the gas-oil you use with your small engine equipments or some chainsaws. Accessories such as a special bottle pump may be needed to get nitro-fuel into your fuel tank of the RC car. Filters are also used on these cars and the same with your automobile they require replacement at a proper time interval.

3.Radio. Radio controller is used to control the RC car and could be same type used on electrically-powered RC cars. It is radio controller operates on 2-channel system that needs batteries to make it work. Additional batteries would be needed to power the receiver though there are other receivers that are fed from the motor itself.

4.Sport or competition. This is an aspect you most considered when choosing body style. There are different options for you; you have choices from sedans, trucks, buggies, stock cars, and other popular car models. These are basically available in two versions: sports, and competition version. Sports RC cars typically cost less than the car you intend to race, which of course would need more power and higher speeds. Ball bearings and oil shocks are some of the advanced options included for the competition RC car version.

Depending on the type you need, RC car kits and ready-to-car or RTR kits are available. If you are a beginner, RTR kits are what you need as this comes out of the box ready for the fuel. RC car kit, on the other hand, requires heavy work but allows you to decide how they would be put together.

Every Man Needs A Truck
Tuesday 11 May 2010 @ 1:57 pm

There are a few things in life that I’m quite sure of. I guess I have learned along the way and become convinced about more things as I’ve gotten older. For example, I am convinced that work is a normal and important part of life. Twenty years ago I thought I could somehow be the first person to make it through life without working. I’ve also realized that relationships are harder than anything else in life, but they are also the most valuable. My early years were about anything but relationships. Being married for the past fifteen years has only increased my learning curve about the things I’m sure of. I have always thought that men were different than women, but it took getting married for me to really be sure that they are. I’ve also become quite sure that every man needs a truck.

I remember hearing things growing up about how every man needs a truck to own and drive, but I never really believed it was true. I believed that men said they needed a truck just so that they would have an excuse to actually buy a truck and drive one. I’ve been around a lot of men in the past couple of decades and I’m quite sure that there is something actually tied between being a man and having a truck.

A truck has become the symbol of masculinity to me, for better or for worse. I feel a little weird anytime I see a woman driving a truck around town. I immediately feel like she must just be borrowing her husband’s truck for the day, but then I immediately wonder why she would want to do that. I, for example, have never had the desire to own a truck or even to drive a truck. My husband has owned a truck since before we were married and so I have had my fair share of time in a truck and I still don’t see the appeal. I simply see that my husband comes alive when he gets in his truck, cleans his truck, or starts talking about his truck with anyone who will listen. His truck has truly become his favorite posession and his pride and joy.

So women, let the men in your life get a truck. It will help them feel like a man. And men, if you’ve always been longing for a truck but haven’t had the guts to make the purchase, let today be the day. Any size and kind of truck will do, just get one and start enjoying the fact that every man needs a truck.

Establishing Your Truck Insurance Rate
Tuesday 4 May 2010 @ 1:57 pm

Finding your car insurance rate involves factoring in the variables involved in rate calculation and employing the information you collect about your own driving habits and, surprisingly, the driving habits of your peers. Depending on the area in which you live, you may find the premiums on your car insurance dictated by government or comprised of information based on your own personal use. Traditionally, the latter option is the most commonly employed standard, but there are exceptions in factoring car insurance rates that exist in many states.

When your car insurance rate and the premiums involved are not calculated by the government, they tend to involve an actuary. An actuary is a professional business person that deals in the fiscal impact of risk and uncertainty. They are employed by car insurance companies and by the department of motor vehicle and safety regulatory committees to establish a foundation for the rates involved in insurance policies and the rates of any other issues as pertains to traffic issues. Often, actuaries work with the department of motor vehicle and safety regulations to determine these rates based on the safety of the roads in the area and on driving records.

Actuaries often look to the volume of traffic in a particular area. One can expect lower rates if they spend time driving in a low traffic area because of the lower risk. Conversely, one can expect higher rates if they live in a high traffic area because of the increase in risk and uncertainty. The decision on the rate includes this information along with other pieces of driver history and road status.

Gender, surprisingly, is also a variable that is considered when establishing your car insurance rate. Because, according to most statistics in most areas of the world, men drive more miles per year than women, the rates for male drivers tend to be higher than those for female drivers. Men also have a significantly higher accident involvement than females do, creating more risk for male drivers and raising premiums. Females tend to keep the car insurance low and tend to end up with lower premium rates because they tend to be safer drivers. This tendency, however, in terms of car insurance low rates can be argued by proving general accident histories from your own personal experience.

Other issues greatly affect car insurance rates. Driver age and distance driven on average are just some of these issues, but there are many factors that can influence your car insurance rate. Insurance companies take all of the information they have into account to give you a rate that best protects you and other drivers from any incidents on the road. Your car insurance rate may remain fixed for quite some time, but that rate can change with years of first-rate driving.

An extra service you can get from your Truck insurance company is getting your truck wrapped.

Truck vinyl graphics and truck wrap are the ideal way to get your products known to the customers you want.

They are moving billboards and you can’t miss message while the trucks are rolling down the street.

Lately there are many insurance companies that co operate with the major truck wrap companies and give you the customer a benefit while you establish your truck Insurance.
